German Paratrooper greeting

At WWII Days in Reading, an annual three-day “war bird” airshow sponsored by Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, unnoticed among the crowd, a German paratrooper made his way to our exhibit in the Hangar to express his admiration for the US Paratroopers.  Historian Steve Mrozek exchanged honorary “wings” and listened to his story.  After his capture in Normandy, he was shipped to Ft. Indiantown Gap where he spent the remainder of the war as a POW.  Returning to Germany after the war, and having no success in securing a job, he returned to the US where’s he’s resided as a US citizen for nearly 70 years.
