Looking pretty sharp, soldier!

Looking pretty sharp, soldier!

WWII Veteran of the Tenth Armored Division Floyd Demmy “inspects” the uniform of a young admirer.  Demmy was the featured speaker at the Central PA WWII Roundtable April meeting.  His service included fighting in France, in the Battle of the Bulge and in Germany until the end of the war.  Our July Tour will visit the Bastogne battle sites of the Tenth Armored, as documented by our colleague and guide Martin King and co-author Michael Collins in The Tigers of Bastogne (Casemate Publishing, 2013).

This young club member regularly attends Roundtable meetings and WWII events in the region, seeking signatures from his WWII heroes and listening attentively to their stories of enlistment, service and post-war years.

In the not-too-distant future, should he choose to wear the uniform of the United States military, and follow in the footsteps of his heroes – maintaining peace, delivering humanitarian aid, and protecting freedom – our country will be in good hands.

In honor of those in uniform and stationed internationally,
wear RED on Friday – Remember Everyone Deployed.
